Cardiff are into the fifth round of the competition for the first time since the 2013-14 season. Their journey in this edition began in the third round when they won 1-0 at Sheffield United. They then beat Stoke on penalties to book their spot in the fifth round. They come into tonight’s match off the back of a 1-0 win against Hull and currently sit 19th in the EFL Championship, just six points above the relegation zone.

Villa and Cardiff have met three times previously in the FA Cup, with Cardiff advancing twice. The last time though that the sides met in the FA Cup was back in the 1948-49 season. In all competitions, Villa are unbeaten in their last 15 home games against Cardiff, winning the last seven on the trot.
