Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on March 11 assured the Parliament that the government was providing all assistance to violence-hit Manipur to speed up its economic recovery.

FM Sitharaman had earlier on March 10 tabled the Budget for financial year 2025-26 (FY26) for the strife-ridden state of Manipur with a total expenditure of Rs 35,104 crore, up 7.5 per cent from the revised estimates of FY25.

The state, currently under President's rule, has seen a 9% increase in its total capital outlay, raising it to Rs 7,773 crore for the current financial year ending in March 2025.

For FY26, the Centre has allocated Rs 2,mgbet cassino866 crore to provide incentives for police personnel posted in sensitive areas. Additionally, Rs 15 crore has been set aside for temporary shelter for internally displaced persons, Rs 35 crore for housing, Rs 100 crore for relief operations, and Rs 7 crore for compensation.

"We are committed to providing all the necessary support to accelerate the recovery of Manipur's economy. I urge all members to consider that we will continue to back this effort to ensure a swift recovery," she stated in the Lok Sabha, addressing the discussion on the Supplementary Demands for Grants for FY 2024-25, Additional Grants for FY 2021-22, and the Budget for FY 2025-26.
